How to Create a Luxury Bedroom Interior

How to Create a Luxury Bedroom Interior

14th Jun 2022

Having a luxurious bedroom can often feel out of reach. While some of us dream of having our room emulate the Ritz-Carlton, just know that even your humble abode can go to the next level! Those clean lines, plush textiles, and fresh aesthetics that 5-star hotels have can easily be achieved in any bedroom. Achieving a luxury look right at home is far easier and less expensive than you may think.

So, here are some helpful tips for creating that luxurious bedroom interior that will make you never want to leave it!

Begin with the Bedding

When it comes to your bed, you don’t need to put too much effort in when it comes to making it feel more luxurious. Sure, you could add a headboard or completely change the bed frame itself, but it’s not always necessary. So instead, why not look into changing up the bedding itself?

This can include choosing some neutral colours such as white or taupe. Linens and cotton are both very stark and can instantly add some a feeling of sophisticated simplicity to the bed. But why stop there? Layering up your bed with practical and accent pillows just adds that cosiness that anyone could fall in love with! Also add a cosy throw and bolster cushions for that ultimate 5-star hotel aesthetic.

Don’t Forget the Flooring

Just like any other home space, you will want to give careful consideration to the flooring. Whether you’re considering hard flooring such as engineered wood or laminate, or you prefer the cosiness of carpet, there are plenty of options available.

Having natural elements like a wood floor can help to add depth and warmth to the bedroom. Wooden flooring is also a neutral choice that will beautifully blend with any interior style you choose. Opt for an engineered wood floor for a stable and long-lasting floor that will stand the test of time. Add a large rug for added texture and toasty toes!

One draw back of wood flooring is that it is an expensive choice. If you like the overall look achieved through wood flooring, you may want to consider laminate flooring which is a more budget friendly alternative. Laminate flooring today is highly advanced with different surface textures and grains to replicate real wood and it can often be hard to tell the difference. Ot is also extremely practical and robust, ideal for busy households.

If you're looking to add some “softness” to the floor and the room in general, carpet is still a popular choice for bedroom flooring. Some soft touch carpets are super comfortable underfoot, or opt for a wool carpet for a long-lasting and hardwearing option.

Natural carpets such as coir and sisal carpet have seen a surge in popularity in recent years with natural tones that will complement rustic style decor.

Whimsical Window Treatments

While window treatments tend not to get too much attention thrown at them, this can be one of the most remarkable ways to elevate the space, create depth, and make the bedroom look very luxurious. There are plenty of different window treatments out on the market, but one of the more popular options would be to invest in some blackout curtains, install them above the window frame, and allow them to have a “waterfall” puddling effect on the floor. It creates a more finished look to your walls. Add a blind inside the frame for added cosiness.

Add those Accents

Accents can be anything from ornaments and plants to mirrors and artwork. These are made to be seen, and they’re what really add that touch of personality and edge to your space. Just because your bedroom is a private space doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t display some of your favourite pieces in here.

Just experiment around your bedroom; try to find one statement piece and position it somewhere in the room where it’ll get the attention it deserves. For example, adding a large canvas or framed pice of artwork above the bed can add a real focal point.

If you want to go one step further consider panelling behind the bed, a wallpaper feature wall, or built in shelving for a more bespoke feel.

Lovely Lighting

Last but certainly not least would be the lighting in your room. Chances are, your bedroom may be equipped with some uninspiring fixtures or lampshades. Upgrading these can make a big impact on your space. The fixtures and lamp shades can really make or break your bedroom’s interior and the style that you’re going for. Adding a statement feature light is a great way to create instant impact.

Add bedside lights or floor lamps for a cosy, cocooning feel later in the evenings. Opt for wall lights where you can hide wires and switches for a neater finish.

Overall, when it comes to creating a luxurious bedroom, you can make a major transformation through consideration of the finer details. It can be as simple as changing up your flooring, rearranging the room, and adding some small changes here and there. But most of all, what really matters is having a bedroom that is perfectly suited to you!
