We were super proud to support of The Getaway Girls on BBC One’s DIY SOS: The Big Build, which aired on our screens last night (16th November).
Each year, the BAFTA award winning team of Nick Knowles, Billy, Chris and Jules, take on a big build for Children in Need, and this year we were honoured to donate the flooring for the life changing transformation of the Getaway Girls brand new headquarters.
These hugely ambitious builds are delivered in limited time and rely completely on the generosity of the local community of tradespeople and suppliers, to help transform the lives of truly deserving people.
Getaway Girls charity has been providing support and empowering young women in Leeds for over 30 years. At its core, the charity seeks to ‘empower girls and young women to support each other, build confidence and resilience, raise aspirations, and take positive risks.’ The charity’s work is as important now as it has ever been, but their existing facilities were no longer fit for purpose, and the lack of available space was hindering the support they could offer.
The charity needed a total redevelopment of their facilities to be able to offer many more girls and young women support, counselling and opportunities for creativity and learning, as well as the practical help, companionship, and opportunities for adventure.
For our part, Carpet & Flooring Online donated the Parador Vinyl flooring which was laid throughout the build to help transform the new headquarters.
It was truly amazing to witness the community spirit on site and see exactly what can be achieved when we work together.
Well done to the whole team at DIY SOS and all the trade who offered their support for such a fantastic cause!
