Our Favourite Interior Trends for 2020

14th Jan 2020

The start of the new year provides the perfect opportunity for a home refresh.

Whether you're looking to start a complete renovation, or simply update your home with a coat of paint and new accessories, here's the trends that you'll be seeing a lot of throughout 2020.

Relaxed Neutrals

Are we finally seeing the back of grey? Not quite, but there is definitely a movement towards more relaxed, earthy neutral tones this year.

Dulux has nominated Tranquil Dawn as its Colour of The Year for 2020 - a pastel tone which sits somewhere between mint and sage and perfectly complements bolder furnishings. Soft stones and buttery beiges are also gaining popularity.

Add definition with black accents and make sure to incorporate lots of texture with natural materials. Think wood flooring, sheepskin rugs and stone tables.

Vinyl Tile Flooring

As our lives get busier and our interior tastes get bolder, more of us are opting for luxury vinyl tiles (or LVT) as an alternative to ceramics thanks to the host of benefits that vinyl offers.

If you thought vinyl was outdated and artificial, then you've obviously never seen Amtico flooring. With three key collections offering a portfolio of beautiful wood, stone and abstract designs, it's never been so easy to release your inner designer and find the perfect shade and layout for you. Warm underfoot, water and scratch resistant and with a minimum 25 years' warranty, it's hard to fault this brand.

Traditional style layouts and patterns have been making a come back in recent years and these are set to get even more popular throughout 2020. Think simple geometric or moroccan-style style flooring to add authenticity and definition to your interior. The Amtico Decor range is a great place to start.

Industrial Touches

It doesn't matter if you don't live in a reclaimed warehouse, it's easy to experiment with this trend which is everywhere right now. Combine contemporary open plan living spaces with a mixture of authentic materials for a finish that's both modern and timeless. Think exposed brick, concrete tables and reclaimed wood flooring

Keep furnishings simple and soften the overall finish through green foliage, artisan rugs and cosy zonal lighting.

Colourful kitchens and bathrooms

Perhaps thanks to the likes of Pinterest and Instagram constantly bombarding us with interiors inspiration, homeowners are becoming bolder when it comes to interior taste. And we're not just talking about a lick of paint. From colourful floor tiles to cobalt blue kitchen units, brass taps and pink vanity units, creativity is key if you're planning on a kitchen or bathroom renovation this year.

Just remember to make choices based on what you're naturally drawn - these aren't elements that you're going to change again any time soon! But get it right and you will have a space that will make you smile for years to come.
